Are you passionate about developing young hockey players? Hockey Northland is now seeking Expressions of Interest for our 2026 U16 Representative and Tournament Programme.
We're looking for committed people to fill coaching and management roles for:
Northland U16 Boys National Tournament Team
Northland U16 Girls National Tournament Team
Grant McLeod U16 Tournament Boys Team
Grant McLeod U16 Tournament Girls Team
Ricky Burgess Cup U16 Teams (Boys & Girls) – 11-a-side & 5-a-side

U16 National Tournament: 3–7 October 2026
Boys – Auckland | Girls – Christchurch
All coaches and managers must complete a Police Vetting Check, appointments may be subject to an interview process if required and a sign off process.

It's great to see so much dedicated support for youth sports and coaching regional teams. Volunteering to coach or manage an U16 squad takes a massive commitment, but guiding young athletes through tournament prep and team dynamics is always incredibly rewarding.
Managing team morale, player personalities, and off-field stress during tournament trips often requires a few fun, lighthearted team-bonding activities to keep everyone relaxed. Outside of sports, some parents and coaches rely on tools like a free chat astrology app or casual personality icebreakers during downtime to help team members unwind, chat, and connect in a low-pressure environment.
