BEFORE YOU ARRIVE 

Turf Practice Times
These are available Sunday 30th August from 10 a.m. onwards

Bring your own ice for practices, ice will be available in the dugouts at the games.

1. ½ Turf = $75 (incl. GST) per hour.

2. Payment for practice times to be paid in advance (online when the invoice is sent) or at the Hockey Northland office on arrival (cash only we do not have EFTPOS).

Tournament Merchandise
Tournament merchandise will be available throughout the week from the Go Hockey merchandise stand located at the venue.

Video Tower - Bailey's Turf
There is a video tower on Bailey’s Turf.  Only people who have been inducted are allowed to be in the Viewing/Video area. Glen Alderton is the staff member authorised to induct applicants.  Teams playing will be given preference (for 2 people) if we have too many requests to use the Video Tower at the same time.

Changing Rooms

There are four changing rooms by Educare and RS Eng turfs and then we have two rooms (suitable for team talks) under the grandstand which is for the Bayleys Turf games.  It would be helpful if team talks are done before arriving at the turf and the changing rooms are used for toilets and changing areas.  The changing rooms are not secure and  personal gear should not be left in them.  The teams will have access to the rooms before the match and post match limited to 25 minutes.  Please respect all teams by vacating changing rooms promptly after your match.

 

Information Bags

Team packs will be available for collection from Hockey Northland Tournament Office and will include local information, tournament booklets and useful information about Whangārei.

 

Tournament Booklet 

When the Tournament booklet is finalised it will be placed on the Hockey NZ website and the Hockey Northland website.  There will be copies available for purchase from the front office for any other purposes.

ICE

Ice for injuries will be available in chilly bins located in each dugout. Hockey Northland staff will replenish the ice throughout the day. If supplies are running low, please notify Tournament Administration.

First Aid

Pro-Med Medics will be onsite every day.  Available: Monday to Saturday – they will be here one hour before the start of each game and until the last game finishes.  They are situated in the tunnel under the main building – locate them on the map. A list of local medical service providers including emergency clinics, physiotherapy and dental care will be published online and in this newsletter. 

 

Security & Car Parking

1. Please be aware that Hockey Northland is not responsible for windscreen breakages in the car park from flying hockey balls. Our insurance policy does not cover this.

2. Please take care with personal and team belongings. Please ensure personal and team belongings are supervised at all times.

3. While we take all reasonable care, we cannot guarantee the security of your vehicle.  Do not leave any valuables in your vehicles.  All teams to note that it is a public carpark and not specifically reserved for hockey players. 

4. There are other car parks in the area one in particular down by the ASB Gym on your way through on Park Avenue, 

5. Whangarei Police will do regular patrols and car park checks during the week.

 

Drop-off Bay / Parking Wardens

There is a drop-off bay at the facilities which comes right to the front gate – this is not a parking zone. As it is a public car park there could be parking wardens on duty and they will ticket vehicles that are not parked appropriately or parked on top of the gardens so there should be more than enough parking areas available.  Please ensure buses do not remain parked in the drop-off zone.
