2022 North Island Mixed Secondary School Tournament winners
Five local schools from Northland competed at the mixed tournament, Huanui College, Pompallier Catholic College, Otamatea High School School, Kerikeri High School and Rodney College with 9 other schools attending from the North Island.
1st place Huanui College, 2nd place Pompallier Catholic College with our other schools meeting with some tough competition, but played well. One team went home after the first day with one player testing positive for Covid and the rest in isolation. Northland put together a composite team to fill the space and the rest of the teams were able to continue with some fairly close competitive games.
Congratulations to the two local teams that gave their supporters a fantastic final game. Draw the game on the final whistle and headed into shootouts. Eventual winners Huanui College - well contested and a lot of excitement on the sidelines.
Hockey Northland thanks everyone for their help and in making it a successful and memorable week of hockey. Two years has been a long time coming for these events to get back on our calendar - we look forward to more.
