2025 Coaching Group Pilot

  • Mar 21, 2025

For the last 3 years, I have been studying coaching and analysis as part of my degree at AUT. The final few papers include a cooperative education with an Association, business or company.

As mine, Hockey Northland and I are launching a coaching group pilot to make coaching easier for everyone. My role is to facilitate discussion and share a few of what I have learned throughout my coaching. The overall path of the group is up to the members. If you're joining to discuss drills for 10 minutes once a month that's perfect or if you would like to share some coaching knowledge with us then even better. Initially, this will be a pilot group and therefore we have limited spots but eventually, everyone will be welcome.

We are looking for intermediate to experienced coaches who coach at a club or school 1st or 2nd XI level. However, if you can bring something to this group and fit outside the criteria then please feel free to fill out the form.

Please fill out the form below:

This sounds like a really useful initiative for coaches who want to learn from each other ,and swap practical experiences. I do like that the group is built to be flexible, so people can join at a pace and level that fits their schedules, and also their interests. Making a kind of space where coaches can talk through problems, throw around ideas, and sharpen their skills together could help both coaching quality and athlete development, in a pretty direct way.

The pilot idea also seems smart, because it gives a chance to gather feedback and then shape the whole program based on what participants actually find useful . In every field continuous learning matters, and coaching is no exception. Like…
