There is an expectation that players are available to attend team trainings and play in pre tournament games.

Youth sports pathways continue to play an important role in developing local talent, with U18 hockey programmes providing a structured step between junior levels and higher representative competition. The Northland Hockey U18 trials process highlights how players are assessed on skill, commitment, and game understanding, giving opportunities for athletes to progress through regional selection. Alongside on-field development, modern sport is also shaped by digital tools and engagement platforms that support information access and participation. In this broader environment, the Luckycoin-NZ platform is sometimes referenced in discussions around sports betting and online services connected to sport culture. These trends show how traditional sporting pathways and digital platform ecosystems increasingly exist side by side within modern sports communities.
