2025 U16 Grant McLeod Tournament & Riki Burgess Trophy | September 28th to October 1st - Registrations Now Open

Hockey Northland are looking for registration's from our U16 players to form, 11 a-side and Hockey 5 a-side teams for the Grant Mcleod Tournament and Riki Burgess Trophy.

You will need to be available for the following dates:

Sunday 3rd August | U16 team trials and for any non selected team get together

Whangarei ITM Stadium

27th-30th September | U16 Grant McLeod Tournament, Riki Burgess cup teams 2025

-11 aside North Harbour Hockey Stadium

27th-28th | 5-a-side Year 9 teams, Pukekohe Rosa Birch Park

Accommodation has been booked for teams at both venues.

The Tournament is an opportunity for players to finish the season in style, allowing them to play and test themselves against teams from the Northern region area (Northland, Auckland, North Harbour, Counties Manukau, Waikato, Thames Valley, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty).

All players who register will be included in a team to play.

There will be a get together or trial of all those that register at the Hockey Northland turfs on Sunday August 3rd to meet the team at 11am.

If you wish to trial for a competitive team you will be trialling on August 3rd.

1 x 11-a-side selected competitive teams for Year 10/11/12 students who meet the U16 criteria

11-a-side mixed ability teams for Year 10/11/12 students who meet the U16 criteria

Hockey 5-a-side Year 9 teams.

Expected Tournament Cost:

11-a-side: $450.00 per player

The Hockey 5-a-side tournament is expected to be less.

Please note: The competitive U16 11-a-side teams will be selected by a selection panel. Other teams will be put together randomly and be of mixed ability.

Trials will only be for players wanting to be in the selected competition, there will not be trials for those that just want to play, what every the team games are still very competitive, and players will be representing Northland. All players who register an interest will be included in a team.

U16 eligible players who were part of the U18 teams may be eligible for this years U16 Tournament.
