Hockey Northland welcomes the “Injury Prevention Presentation” to its members. Head injuries are a common issue in all sports and hockey does have it’s fair share. By attending you will have a better understanding of what to do, what could happen and most of all gaining more confidence to assist.

About the Event

Dr Caroline Stuart is a Sport and Exercise Physician, and is also vocationally trained in Urgent Care. She was a member of the core medical team at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games and travelled to the Tokyo Olympics with the NZ Sailing team. She has published research in sports-related concussion.

Caroline has worked with a wide range of teams and sports including Black Sticks Women’s hockey at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Olympic Doctor for the NZ Sailing team in 2021, Lead Tournament Physician for the 2019 ASB Classic Women’s Tennis tournament, and Medical Director for Canoe Racing New Zealand and the 2020 Rotorua Half Ironman. She has also cared for the Great Britain and Black Sticks hockey teams, Black Ferns Women’s Rugby, Auckland Mitre 10 Cup Men’s Rugby, Auckland Farah Palmer Cup Women’s Rugby, NZ Warriors Reserves, Roosters NRL 9s, NZ Women’s and Breakers Basketball and the New Zealand Surf Life Saving Team.

‍Previously an elite hockey player she spent nearly 15 years in New Zealand Hockey age-group and Black Sticks Squads, played nine seasons of New Zealand Hockey League and one in the English Hockey League, giving her a unique understanding of athlete’s needs. Has returned to Whangarei and her family.
